Mafia Queens Of Mumbai

S. Hussain Zaidi, former investigative journalist worked on quite an intriguing book, which left a significant impact on me, 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai'. The book has 13 true stories of black marketeers, gharwalis, bade-gharwalis (brothel leaders) and trained assassins.
Stories of gangsters, especially if they are women are much more fascinating to write about than anything else since they are one in a million and it takes courage and all of your strength as a woman to stand against man in a world dominated by them. Let me introduce you to the queens who broke all traditional norms and entered the most feared zone - 'The Underworld'. In the words of Vishal Bhardwaj, let's figure out," Mumbai ki Queen kaun?".

Let me start with a short post about my first queen -
Lallan Bhabhi, not much is known about the Bhabhi of Underworld, except about her famous arrest at Sewree Police Station, South Mumbai. This notorious queen must be the only woman who when arrested by the cops in the case of petrol adulteration, used her only opportunity of call to resume her criminal activities. Right under the cop's nose she made sure that she suffers no financial loss due to her arrest and called her aide to "shift her kitchen", by which she meant the stock that police had not raided upon yet. She called no relative or lawyer for help. she was one of the cogs in the petrol adulteration cartel.
Unfortunately, not much data is available about her except this famous incident.

Day 101 at Blogging

Being an amateur yet aspiring writer, the whole idea of starting a blog                           did excite me. Yet, the one question that terrorized me was, "What should                             my first post be about?"

I had been weighing my options between social issues that I encountered and taking things slow, by which I mean writing about Why am I Blogging publicly rather than keeping a personal journal. Well, the answer is simple I want to reach out to people, share and express views and opinions, shed a little too bright light on the issues of our society.(P.S.: in my definition of society animals are included)

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.”
                                                                                                                                        -Anatole France

Hence, for novice bloggers who are about to or who have been through the whole ordeal of deciding the first post. Let your first draft be 'The shitty draft'. Without thinking twice about the judgmental people sitting out there with wrinkled nose and glasses up their nose, write what you feel, write what you want to scream out to people and let the world know. As a blogger you have to share certain information and let day 1 at blogging be all about yourself. This is where i bring in my introductory blog:

Time to give you a little insight on myself and let you follow my trail of thought. I am a girl (pffft!). I am a stubborn person( not declaring it as a proud thing) and a person with strong opinions but that in no way makes me self opinionated. I am perfectly capable of understanding others take on issues too. I have this abstruse  love for animals which is complex to even put in words. Good at playing around with words and being the grammar nazi (again not so proud), writing drew my attention. I hope my blog can make a difference, maybe not on a large scale but reading about incidents of animal cruelty, child abuse, thorns in a transgender's life, I am sure to make you stop and ponder over these things.

You may find no well researched blogs but these are my thoughts, this is my blog-world. My first "shitty draft" may sound vague to you but the upcoming ones are with the real issues I want people to know. Hope for a great one.

P.S: This blog will have a few posts from eschoolsociety.blogspot.in, which had been my old blog.
